Merry Christmas!

I've been at it again.  The only way I can keep Mason still for a Christmas picture is to put him in this Santa Hat- He loved being all bundled up in it!  It was a careful shoot- close to the floor so that I could make sure he hung without risk of injury.  His whole body fit perfectly inside- very much like a papoose.  :)  He had his little paws hanging out the top by his chin and whenever I tried to pet him, he just wanted to tuck his face back into the hat.  HA HA...

Peanut on the other hand...She just wants to lay in her bed covered in her blankets.  She's an old lady now and would rather not be bothered with trivial stuff like crazy mother photo shoots!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Happy Halloween!!!

Well, I thought the angel costume was a perfect match for Mason...then every time I put it on him his halo would fall off and his wings would go crooked...I think it was a sign...So...

I went out in search of a NEW and Improved costume... after all, he does have a little devil in him.  ;)

Peanut got a new costume too.  She's kind-of shy wearing it in public but she really prances around in the house like she's an expert hula dancer.  I tried the coconuts- but they didn't quite fit.  LOL...

Hope everyone has a safe and FUN Halloween.

Testing, Testing...

I found the perfect Halloween costume for Mason today and had to come home and try it on him.  He doesn't know quite what to do with the halo!  HA HA HA

Playing with bugs...

Hello all.  I have the door open on this beautiful Sunday and a little beetle wandered in.  Mason LOVES to play with beetles.  I spied him having a good time and decided to make a video...He needs his eyebows and face clipped!!!

PS...Peanut is enjoying herself quite nicely in Mason's blue bed, huh?!

Check-Up Day!

Today Mason had a regular check-up and got his DHPP shot.  We're headed to sunny Florida for some vacation sunshine in a few weeks and he needed to get in to get some traveling supplies and a shot...yes, a shot.  Mason's due for his regular shot routine so we made sure to get his DHPP shot today.  He'll go back to get his rabies shot  right before we leave as he couldn't have it at the same time.  Peanut got her yearly check-up too and everything looked good.  She's ready to bask in the sunshine and sip a little water poolside.

I think Mason has gained some weight since being "fixed" and has filled out a little.  He weighed in at 4 pounds 3 oz. and is very healthy.  Dr. Vernon thought he looked perfect too!

Mason's been having a lot of fun this summer.  I think his most favorite pastime is chasing japanese beetles, flies and skinks.  Although he's not quite fast enough to catch one of the skinks, he still tries sniffing them out and chasing them off the patio.  Yesterday, I even caught him chewing on something inside the house.  When I pulled it away from him, it appeared to be a 2 inch piece of the dehydrated remains of a dead snake..ummm yeah, he likes crittering.  I guess Mason really has grown into his schnauzer hunting drive.  Fun FUN FUN...As for the frogs outside, he's just fine sniffing them...as long as they don't move.

He's such an amazing cuddle puppy too...

Cutie Patootie...

Mason decided it was a bit too hot outside (with his scruffy hair) after our walk so he wanted to air out his armpits...ermmm ears.  I think he had his ears back for a good 20 minutes and wasn't a bit interested in flipping them back over.  I thought it was too cute not to take a few pictures.

Such a gorgeous little fellow, right?

One Proud American Puppy!

Doesn't he look proud!  Spending the Fourth just relaxing and enjoying our freedom.  We went for a nice 4 mile walk this morning (Mason pooped out half way and had to be put in his pouch, but he enjoyed the "ride" anyway) and had some time to just sit out on the patio and relax.  Ahhhh summer!
Here are a few precious shots of Peanut relaxing too...She loves the sunshine!
Bye for now!

Pool Time!

Mason and Peanut's pool is out and ready for the summer fun!  I decided to give them a chance to get reacquainted with it.  Not sure how long it will take them to LIKE it.  HA HA
This is like a BIG bowl of WATER...eww...My feet are wet!  He doesn't quite like getting those tootsies wet.
Peanut doesn't care for the pool at all.  She'd much rather hang out tanning on a nice cozy blanket in the sun.
Maybe if I stand real still I won't feel the water down there.  Ha ha...
Looks like some German soldier, with those knickers (or whatever you call them) on.  I think he spotted a bug.

Everything is FABULOUS!

One day after surgery and it is as if Mason never had it.  He's back to his chipper self.  I'm letting him wander a bit but am controlling his zoomie episodes.  Had to stop back at the doctor to pick up the medicine to prevent infection which they forgot to pull out of the fridge for me.  SOOO...He's doing VERY well...BIG SMILES!!!

Thanks for all the prayers and support again.  We appreciate it so much!

One Sore Puppy...

Surgery went well today.  Mason is home and resting.  He is very sore and if he doesn't move and lays on a blanket beside me, he doesn't whine..I've discovered tonight that he seems most comfortable on a blanket instead of in my arms.  More stillness I guess.

Dr. Vernon had some challenge searching for and removing his boy parts.  When palpated, he could feel them right on his inner thighs.  When he cut open, he could only pull the tubes---but the jewels wouldn't budge.  They were stuck...so with a little maneuvering and expert technique, he was able to move a few things around, go through some fatty tissue and get to the treasure...both sides were a challenge.

Xrays showed a crowded mouthful of baby teeth and adult teeth trying to come through.  Dr. Vernon removed 14...YES 14 baby teeth that had not come out yet.  So yes, his mouth is really sore.  He has some stitches that will dissolve in time.  Thank goodness Dr. Vernon was able to give him a pain block when pulling his four baby canines!

Mason will return for a check-up next Wednesday.  If everything goes well, he will have about another week of waiting until he gets his stitches out.

Thanks for prayers and good wishes...He's such a trooper!!!  Hopefully, this will be the end of all the surgery for him.

PS...Total bill today...$1,017.75...every penny worth it.  :)

Surgery TOMORROW!

Please keep Mason in your prayers tomorrow as he will undergo his final surgery to remove his manly parts and his stubborn baby teeth.  Dr. Vernon has consulted with Dr. Jarboe on the treatment plan and the neck placement during surgery and everything is set and ready.  One of the techs will be in bright and early to take care of Mr. Mason throughout surgery.  The staff is excited to see him and some are even coming in especially to say hello.  They say Mighty Mason is a STAR and a MIRACLE and they all love him so much.

Just as he's made such an impression on my heart, he's left footprints on theirs.  I've even remined them that he's cute, mighty, stubborn and...yes, he still has a squeaky bark.  They assured me he would have a blast playing with them before he heads into surgery- and will be so loved and cuddled afterwards.

I'll update his blog and FB tomorrow evening.

Thanks!

More Easter Pictures...

Here are some additional Easter basket photos I took this morning in better lighting.  I think I need to get my lens cleaned as no matter what I did, I had some blur.  In any case, Picmonkey.com helped tweak images and I was able to salvage some.

Happy Easter!

Hello-Hello...

Hello all.  It's been a while since I've been on Mason's blog giving updates so I figured it would be good to hop on and share some info with you.

Mason is doing very well.  He's still a tiny little guy that packs a massive punch.  He's wild and crazy and barks at Peanut all the time.  He's her little shadow (or lover boy, I think).  He wakes her up every morning by jumping near her bed and barking incessantly until she gets up.  She's NOT a morning pup, so she gives him a few dirty looks before she decides to roll out of her bed.

I called Dr. Vernon to schedule Mason's "Mister Fix" and baby teeth removal and it is tentatively scheduled for next Wednesday.  Doc. is leaving on vacation tomorrow so I hope he can get in touch with Dr. Jarboe before then.  He left a message for Dr. Jarboe so they can discuss and collaborate on his treatment and positioning during surgery.  So hopefully, she'll get back to him in a few days and everything will be good to go on Wednesday.

It's Spring Break for me and I've been having fun hanging around the house and playing with the pooches.  It's raining like crazy all day today so I've been baking and decorating cookies up a storm and tonight, I had a chance to take some Easter pictures of the pups.  Thanks to Picmonkey.com, I edited them and got them all "pretty" for display.

Hope you have a fabulous Easter!!!

Date Night...

Hello all.  Mason's been doing very well and had a well check with the doctor.  His neurological eval was fabulous.  Dr. Vernon also checked for "jellybeans" so that we could determine if and when he would have his neutering and baby teeth removal.  Each time he went to a doctor, they were nowhere to be found, so I was expecting to hear the same report...Surprise, surprise...Mason's jellybeans are there and easy to palpate, just a little hidden from view.  So, we're planning on doing his neutering and multiple baby teeth pulling during Spring break in April.

We're also watching his back knees closely.  It seems that my first observation (on his release from Jail day) of Mason occasionally lifting and tucking his hind leg is due to slipped patellas on both knees. This issue has continued since the first observation.  At this time, Mason doesn't appear to have any pain when it happens and he recovers quickly.  As a matter of fact, his right knee slipped out while in the doctors office, so Dr. Vernon could feel it and observe his behaviors until it slipped back into position.  We will be watching this condition closely as it will most likely require some surgical treatment in the future.

Sooo...the saga continues, but this little man continues to steal my heart...and the heart of others...This weekend Mason has been able to have a few sleepovers with one of his most favorite people in the world...My niece Katie.  He loves her, you can see...
PS...Yes, the Christmas tree and decorations are still up downstairs...I just love the twinkling lights in the evening and have a hard time putting them back in the box.  Maybe next weekend...
